Winter can make bathrooms feel dark and drab. There are clever ways to let the light in.
It is not cost-effective to have a window in your bathroom. Depending on the layout of your space, it could prove costly or impossible. You can brighten your space with cheaper, more practical methods that don't cost a lot.
1. Place mirrors near light sources
Mirrors bring light and brightness into bathrooms by reflecting light in the space. Are you feeling drab and dark in your bathroom? Your mirror should be placed opposite your main light source in the bathroom. Your mirror will increase visual space in your bathroom and amplify lighting, regardless of whether the main light source is a window or not. You can also use an LED mirror and a demister. This will add light to your bathroom and make it more attractive.
For best results, soft lighting is the best. An illuminated mirror could be installed in your bathroom. Installing an illuminated mirror in your bathroom can bring style to dark spaces.
2. Paint the ceiling white
If the ceilings are too low, they can make a space feel smaller or more cramped. To instantly brighten your bathroom, give it a fresh coat of paint. You don't have to stop at the ceiling if you want to bring life and color into your bathroom. A new color can be added to the bathroom walls by adding a splash of white. A neutral color will make the bathroom feel bigger and brighter.
3. Use lots of candles
Candles are a great way to add warmth and character in dark bathrooms that don't have windows. Candles can be used to add additional lighting or create a relaxing, tranquil space for evening soaks. You can fill a glass jar with fairy lights or a large glass container. They can also be hung above your mirror.
4. You can add a splash of color to your life
Once you've brightened the space with a paint job, it's time for some colour. Contrasting colours can make your surroundings pop. To bring life and style to a space, use accessories, wall art with patterns, and statement colors.
5. Install open storage shelves
In a darkened bathroom, bulky cabinets can take up valuable wall space. Wall storage can brighten up your bathroom and make it feel larger. Although open shelves can be used to store candles and plants, they do not block natural light. You can choose to have your bathroom cabinets with drawers or doors if you prefer.
6. Bathroom fixtures and fittings need to be updated
You can make your bathroom brighter and more cheerful by replacing outdated fixtures and fittings. Simple chrome or copper fixtures will improve the light and space in your bathroom. The gold-coloured fixtures are not to be underestimated. A gold soap dish and matching toilet roll holder, toilet brush holder, will add light to your bathroom.
7. Remodel your bathroom flooring
Dark flooring, whether it's tiled or laminated makes a room seem smaller and darker. Contrasting tiles or laminates can bring light into dark bathrooms. Bold patterns can give the illusion of more space.
8. Bring in greenery
Because they don't need a lot of sun, shade-loving plants are a great choice for bathrooms. They can thrive in any environment. Use a neutral or white vase to make your green plants stand out.
